Run your first session

This walks through one full session. Screens marked (if enabled) only appear when you’ve turned that option on for the event.

Before you start

A session can’t run on an empty booth. Make sure you have:

• An event set up, with backgrounds added. See Start the event and the event options; backgrounds are added on the template (see Create a template).
• At least one project to shoot with — a photo or a video project. See Photos & templates or Video projects.
• A camera connected and configured as needed — the booth shoots through it. See Cameras.

A template needs at least one photo

A shootable template must contain at least one photo. A template with no photos is ignored and won’t appear in the booth. If no shootable template exists, no mode is available — and if the gallery is off too, you can’t even enter booth mode: the app shows a message telling you to prepare something first.

1. Launch MixUp and start the event

Start the app. While it loads you’ll see Loading booth (“Please wait while booth is loading”). It opens in the operator menu.

To go live, start the event — Start Event puts the booth into Event Mode, and the guest-facing Start screen appears. See Start the event for the modes (Photobooth, mirror, Spinner) and the full flow.

The guest taps the big Start button to begin. Its image and label are set by Start Button Image and Start button text, so your booth’s button may look custom. See Booth Options → Start.

If more than one Capture mode is on, the guest picks one: Photo or Video. With a single mode enabled, this screen is skipped. See Booth Options → Capture.

If the event has more than one project/template, the guest picks from a grid of previews. A Random option can be offered. Set these up in Photos & templates or Video projects (remember: a template with no photos is hidden).

5. Guest data steps (if enabled)

Any of these can run, in the order you set for the event:

• Disclaimer — the guest must accept it to continue. (Set in the event options.)
• Survey — an operator-defined questionnaire. See Surveys & tags.
• Select AI template and a custom button — used by AI styles.
• Email — for a receipt or to send the result. See Email.
• Payment — pay for the session. See Event payments.

If the guest declines a required step (like the disclaimer), the session returns to the Start screen.

6. Countdown

The Countdown screen counts down before the shot (its duration is Countdown Time, its text is Countdown text). The live camera check runs here — on success the app proceeds to capture. If the camera can’t start, see Troubleshooting the first run.

7. Capture

The booth takes the photo (or records the video). If your booth has a 360 platform or a GlamBot arm, it’s driven during this step. See Devices.

8. Processing

The app composites the chosen template and, if the template uses AI, runs the AI render. An advertising video can play while the guest waits. See Booth Options → Processing and AI Processing.

9. Share the result

On the Sharing screen the guest sends their content. Open Sharing Options (the paper-airplane icon) to offer (all configured under Sharing):

• QR Code — Show QR for the guest to scan. See QR.
• Email — the guest enters an Email Address. See Email.
• SMS — the guest enters their number (“Enter your number”). See SMS & WhatsApp.
• Print — the Print button sends the photo to print. See Printing.

Print works even with no printer

The Print button stays active even if no printer is connected — the job just goes into a queue. The guest doesn’t see that the printer is unavailable; only the administrator sees and knows about it.

From the Gallery, guests can browse content from the whole event and, if enabled, re-share or print again (“Guests can print from the gallery”). See Booth Options → Gallery.

Enter the Administrator passcode (Admin Passcode) to open the admin overlay. From there you can drive a capture, print, and exit the event. During a shot the overlay shows the live capture status (idle → countdown → capture → downloading). See Booth Options → General.

Tip

Set a passcode you’ll remember but guests won’t guess. You can also show or hide the on-screen admin lock and the guest Cancel button per event.
