Devices
The Devices menu is where you connect and manage the extra hardware that works with the booth. Devices connect mostly over Bluetooth or USB and are used during a session.
What counts as a device
Section titled “What counts as a device”- Lighting devices.
- A spinner — the platform that rotates the camera around the guest.
- GlamBot — DzenTech’s robotic camera arm. It has its own detailed section: GlamBot.
- Other add-on hardware.
Enable, not Connect
Section titled “Enable, not Connect”For every device there’s an Enable toggle rather than a one-off Connect button. When a device is Enabled, the app keeps trying to find it and remembers that state. So after a restart — say you had to reboot the laptop mid-event — you don’t have to go back into Devices and reconnect each one: enabled devices reconnect on their own, as long as the connection is otherwise fine.
Devices run on scenes
Section titled “Devices run on scenes”Every device works through scenes. A device has:
- an active scene — what it does during a capture, and
- an idle (waiting) scene — what it does while the booth waits between sessions.
Recommended: run devices in remote-control mode
Section titled “Recommended: run devices in remote-control mode”For a Spinner or GlamBot, we recommend not using the standard Photobooth or Mirror mode, but the dedicated remote-control mode.
When you press Start Event, you get a choice of three modes — one is Spinner / Robo-arm (shown with a remote-control icon). This mode turns your device into a control panel: you can quickly switch between projects and templates, and drive everything with a presenter remote connected to your device, using its Page Up / Page Down buttons — rotation start/stop and capture start.
A typical flow:
- Put the guest on the platform and press a button to start the rotation.
- When they’re ready, press another button to start recording — a 3-2-1 countdown runs, then recording begins.
- Or use a single button: it starts the countdown, the arm spins up during it, and capture begins.
We recommend this mode for both the Spinner and GlamBot.
